Wadiyan are a blend of lentils made and stored for long-term use. The most delicious ones are made with beef. They are made in the most traditional way as they are purely sundried for two or three days. You can find them in packets in the market but they are healthier than they are made at home. Most people have stopped eating them because they cannot find them of good quality. Love, Amma’s Wadiyan are made in a very healthy environment keeping the view that the air might be polluted so we take extra measures to maintain the food from dust. 

Wadiyan can be a great option if you want to take a break from heavy meaty food. They offer a unique taste and they are gluten-free as well as they are made from lentils and beef.

How to Prepare Beef Wadiyan

  • Take 1 cup of oil and deep fry Love Amma’s Beef Wadiyan in it until they are golden brown.
  • Take them out on a plate and set them aside.

Prepare the gravy for Wadiyan

  • Take 4-5 tablespoons oil (can be more or less as per your taste).
  • Keep the flame low- medium throughout the process.
  • Add a medium-sized finely chopped onion and fry it.
  • Add 1 black cardamom(bari ilaichi) 2-3 green cardamom (choti ilaichi) for aroma.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of garlic and ginger paste and stir the mixture until golden brown.
  • Add 1-2 finely chopped tomatoes to the gravy.
  • Add 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste), 1 teaspoon red pepper (or to taste), half a teaspoon fennel powder (zeera), half a teaspoon black pepper (kali mirch), and half a teaspoon turmeric powder (haldi).
  • Fry the gravy for 4-5 minutes and then add half a cup of yogurt.
  • Add 2 to 3 medium-sized chopped potatoes and fry them for 4 - 5 minutes.
  • Add 2 - 3 cups of water (or as per your taste) and bring it to a boil.
  • Add the fried beef wadiyan and let it cook for 15 - 20 minutes on a medium flame.
  • Add green chilies and chopped coriander for garnishing.
